Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright

Did you know that each Tiger has an average of 100 stripes? Tigers are the largest and most powerful of all cat species, and they also have the strongest and longest canine teeth. Despite their strong and noble nature in the wild, tigers are frequently seen in popular culture as cute and cuddly creatures. "Tigger" from Winnie the Pooh and "Tony the Tiger", the mascot for Frosted Flakes, are some well-known cartoon Tigers.

Bomb sniffing bees

I was just listening to public radio and heard a fascinating story about bomb sniffing bees. Evidently using traditional training methods involving food, bees can be trained to sniff out explosive materials. Andrew Revkin has an article on the subject here.
